Counterpoints

Hi folks,

The Missouri Fiber Artists’ exhibit Counterpoints is on display now at the University of Central Missouri Gallery of Art & Design in Warrensburg, MO.

All of the pieces in this exhibit are collaborative works between two MoFA members. We were randomly paired, then asked to explore an element of art: line, color, shape, form, value, space, or texture. My partner, Amber R. Clifford-Napoleone, and I chose color for our element. I focused on the presence of color, and Amber focused on the absence of color. We were each to finish about half of a 10” x 10” piece, then ship it off to the other person to complete the piece.

Here are our completed pieces, hanging in the UCM gallery space (photo by University of Central Missouri):

One of the things I loved about this project was that Amber and I both interpreted “half of a 10” x 10” piece” very literally—we both sent 5” x 10” pieces to each other for finishing.

Counterpoints runs through January 30, 2021. You can see all the pieces in the exhibit here.
